Criminal Justice

In the U.S., the criminal justice system disproportionately impacts Black and Brown individuals, including Black and Brown autistic people. Preventing, reducing, and improving the criminal justice system is a vital priority for autism research. Policy and practice changes must be driven by the needs and preferences of autistic individuals, be timely, and be evidence-based to achieve equitable justice and safer outcomes for autistic individuals.
